Parkside's Novakovich and SVSU's Nnolim are named men's soccer players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 2 of the 2021 Men's Soccer season. Parkside junior Rade Novakovich earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Saginaw Valley State sophomore Chidie Nnolim claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rade Novakovich - Parkside

Rade Novakovich (Muskego, Wis.) tallied three goals and an assist over the past two games for the Rangers, and both came at home at Wood Road Field in a pair of victories. In the overtime win over UIS on Thursday, Novakovich came in clutch with the golden goal in overtime after playing all 98 minutes. In the 5-0 win over Malone, he added two more goals and an assist, bringing his season total to four goals and three assists. The Rangers improved to 3-0-1 and have scored at least three goals in every game this season. 
 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Chidie Nnolim - Saginaw Valley St

The Saginaw Valley State University men’s soccer team played three non-conference games last week, going 2-1-0, earning a pair of key victories. For his efforts, SVSU sophomore defender Chidie Nnolim has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday. Nnolim (Brampton, Ont.) helped the SVSU defense limit the opposition in the three games last week to one goal per game. He also scored the first goal of his Cardinal career, tying the game on the road at Tiffin University, as the Cardinals rallied to win the game in overtime.
