Parkside's Novakovich and Durand honored with GLIAC men's soccer weekly awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 8 of the 2021 men's soccer season. Wisconsin Parkside swept the honors, as redshirt junior forward Rade Novakovich was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week and junior goalkeeper Alexandre Durand secured the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week award.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rade Novakovich - Wisconsin Parkside

Redshirt junior Rade Novakovich (Muskego, Wis.) played a pivotal role in both of the Parkside victories on the road this week, tallying one goal and one assist. Novakovich recorded his assist early in the win against Davenport, and later scored a goal to complete the 3-0 victory against the Panthers.  The Rangers now sit in second place in the GLIAC, just a half game behind Davenport. Following another strong weekend, Novakovich leads the country in total goals and total points, is second in points per game, fifth in goals per game, and eighth in game winning goals.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alexandre Durand - Wisconsin Parkside

Junior goalkeeper Alexandre Durand (Paris, France) tallied 12 saves and earned back-to-back shutouts in the two road victories for the Rangers over the weekend. Durand recorded seven saves against Purdue Northwest in the 1-0 victory on Friday. He then had five saves in the 3-0 shutout to beat Davenport on Sunday. Durand also earned an offensive assist when his clearing attempt led to a goal from redshirt-junior Rade Novakovich. The Rangers have improved to 10-3-2 on the season and are 7-3-1 in GLIAC play. After his big weekend, Durand ranks second in the GLIAC in total saves with 44.
