BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State University sophomore Carol Azambuja (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Objetivo) and senior Andrey Seryy (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/Olympic Reserve School) were named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts last weekend.

Wayne State sophomore Carol Azambuja was a three-time individual winner in Saturday's dual meet victory vs. Grand Valley State, leading the pack in the 100 backstroke (58.47), 200 backstroke (2:06.52) and 50 freestyle (24.23). She also swam on the first-place 200 free relay (1:37.21).

Wayne State senior Andrey Seryy was a two-time individual winner last Saturday against Grand Valley State, finishing in first place in the 50 freestyle (20.47) and the 100 freestyle (44.59). Seryy also joined two relays, including the 200 medley relay which opened the meet with a second-place finish (1:33.26) and an NCAA B cut. He also led off the 200 free relay which ended the meet out-touching GVSU by .17 seconds for the victory (1:24.31).
