BAY CITY, Mich. - Grand Valley State University seniors Carly Bush (Grandville, Mich./Byron Center) and David Hayhow (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) were named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts last weekend.

Grand Valley State senior Carly Bush set two individual pool records and was part a third pool record in the 800 free relay as the Lakers claimed a 159-74 victory over Findlay. Bush touched first in the 1000 free (10:16.22), breaking the previous pool record by nearly six seconds. Carly then claimed the win in the 200 fly (2:06.49), eclipsing the previous pool mark of 2:07.04. Bush finished the meet with a lead 200 free of 1:57.12 that helped the 800 free relay team touch the wall is 7:49.34, over seven seconds ahead of the previous mark of 7:56.94.

Grand Valley State senior David Hayhow set one pool individual mark in the 1000 free and was a part of the Lakers' 800 free relay team that set a pool mark in GVSU's 170-41 victory over Findlay. Hayhow touched the wall first in the 1000 freestyle (9:30.26), bettering the previous pool mark of 9:31.8, then anchored the 800 free relay that touched the wall in 6:49.76, over four seconds better than the previous record of 6:53.79.
