GLIAC Sends Four Programs to 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Tournament

NCAA -- Four programs from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) have earned bids into the 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Tournament. Ferris State, Wayne State, Northwood and Grand Valley State have all punched tickets to the national championships.

The NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Midwest Regional Tournament will take place on Monday and Tuesday, April 30 & May 1 at two sites divided into sub-regionals, hosted by Drury and Indianapolis.

Third-seeded Ferris State (20-2) will head to Drury to face No. 6 seed Northwood (16-4) at 11 a.m. on April 30th in a matchup between two landmark tennis programs in the GLIAC. The winner of that matchup with tangle with the victory of No. 2 Drury (18-4) and No. 7 Grand Valley State (15-8).

Wayne State (14-11) travels to UIndy as the No. 5 seed to battle No. 4 Lewis (12-10) at 11 a.m. on April 30 while No. 1 Indianapolis (22-2) matches up with No. 8 Missouri-St. Louis (12-4) in the other region quarterfinal. 

The 2018 campaign represents the third consecutive year in which Ferris State has won both the GLIAC Regular-Season & Tournament Championships in the same year. FSU also won the GLIAC outright regular-season title for the fourth-consecutive year. The Bulldogs, who are ranked 20th nationally in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Rankings, own a 20-2 overall record and were a perfect 8-0 in regular-season action. FSU has won its last 17 matches in a row to date this year.

Northwood is currently ranked No. 41 in the latest ITA standings, while Wayne State sits in the 45th position.
