GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its ninth men's tennis weekly awards of the 2018 campaign. Lake Superior State senior Jake Prime has been named GLIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Jake Prime, Lake Superior State

Lake Superior State senior Jake Prime helped lead the Lakers to a GLIAC split over the weekend at home falling to Davenport 6-3 on Saturday and downing Purdue Northwest 8-1 on Sunday. Prime posted a perfect 4-0 record on the week playing at No. 2 single and No. 2 doubles.

Prime defeated Davenport's J.L. Van Antwerpen at No. 2 singles by a 6-3, 6-2 decision, while teaming up with Luis Valderrama to take down their DU opponents 8-3 in No. 2 doubles. He also earned a victory over Purdue Northwest's Moritz Gisy at No. 2 singles by a count of 6-4, 6-2 after Prime & Valderrama took down the PNW No. 2 doubles pairing by an 8-5 tally.

Prime, a Doncaster England native, owns a team-best 9-4 record in singles on the season and has won three-straight competing in the No.2 spot. Prime and his double partner, Luis Valderrama, also pace Lake State with a 10-4 mark and have also won three-straight.

Prime will look to keep the streak alive heading into the final two regular season contests of the season when they take on Tiffin (Saturday) and Wayne State (Sunday). A win on Saturday solidifies a spot in the conference tournament for the Lakers.
