Roscoe Moonieyan appointed head women’s and men’s tennis coach at Purdue Northwest

HAMMOND, Ind. – Purdue University Northwest Director of Athletics Rick Costello announced the hiring of Roscoe Moonieyan as Head Women's and Men's Tennis Coach. Moonieyan joins PNW after eight seasons as head coach at Union College (KY).

On behalf of the Pride, I am excited that Roscoe Moonieyan will coach the PNW Tennis programs. Coach Moonieyan is a relentless recruiter, knowledgeable and skilled teacher, and a highly respected coach. I look forward to Coach Moonieyan leading the Purdue Northwest Tennis programs.

Moonieyan, who led Union College to the NAIA Men's Indoor National Championship Invitational second place finish, brings 12 years of coaching experience to PNW.

Originally from East London, South Africa, Moonieyan restarted the tennis program at Union in 2014. Moonieyan coached five top 10 nationally ranked players, 8 All-Americans, and led Union to the 2021 Appalachian Athletic Conference regular season title in Men's and Women's Tennis. His teams have broken multiple school records including both men and women being ranked #5 and #6 in the NAIA and finishing as quarterfinalist at the NAIA National Championships in back to back years. In 2013 Moonieyan was named NCAA South Region Assistant Coach of the Year after assisting Alabama Huntsville to a national ranking for the first time in school history. In 2011, Moonieyan was named NAIA East Region Assistant Coach of the Year for his coaching efforts at Union College.

Moonieyan, a graduate of Union College, is the owner of Tenacity Academy which is primarily focused on teaching the game of tennis to underprivileged students in South Africa.
