GVSU Men's & Women's Track and Field Teams Claim 2011 GLIAC Outdoor Championships

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Grand Valley State University men's and women's track and field teams captured the 2011 GLIAC Outdoor Championships held at the Fisher Track at Hantz Stadium, on the campus of Northwood University.

For the first time since 2007, the Grand Valley State men's track and field team captured the GLIAC Outdoor Championship, garnering 187.5 points to win the seventh conference outdoor crown in school history.

GVSU claimed the title with 187.5 points, outdistancing Ashland who placed second with 127 points, just ahead of Tiffin's 126 points. Findlay was fourth with 101.5 points followed by Lake Erie, Saginaw Valley, Hillsdale, Lake Superior, Northwood, Michigan Tech and Ferris State.

The Grand Valley State women's track and field squad continued their GLIAC dominance by claiming their 12th straight GLIAC Outdoor Championship, scoring 274 points to secure the title. GVSU took the crown with 274 points while Ashland finished second with 148 points. The rest of the standings went Hillsdale, Findlay, Northern Michigan, Tiffin, Ferris State, Saginaw Valley, Northwood, Lake Erie and Michigan Tech.
