NEW ORLEANS – The men’s track & field teams at The University of Findlay was named as Scholar Teams of the Year in Division II for the 2012 seasons by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The squads earned the distinction as a result of being the highest-placing teams with at least a 3.00-cumulative GPA at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championship, respectively. In addition, the USTFCCCA announced 41 teams as All-Academic teams for the track & field seasons.
Indoor Track & Field Scholar Team of the Year – Findlay
Findlay finished fourth at the NCAA Indoor Championships and carries a 3.31 cumulative team GPA.
Seven squad members were named to the All-Academic individual honorees earlier in the week. The Oilers that made the list include Justin Eilerman, John Guagenti, Taylor Miller, Curtis Smithey, Michael Travis, Cory Vales, and Derrick Vicars. Vicars placed second at the indoor national meet with the shot put plus finished third in the weight throw. Guagenti was fourth in the 400 meters while Vales placed sixth nationally in the high jump.
