BAY CITY, Mich. - Lake Superior State University sophomore Taylor Heath (Hanover, Mich.) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's cross country "Runner of the Week" after finishing 19th at the Roy Griak Invitational.

Lake Superior State University sophomore Taylor Heath finished
19th out of 322 competitors in the Division II race at the Roy
Griak Invitational, which is the nation’s largest cross
country meet. Heath ran the eight kilometer course 26:07, which
proved to be the fastest time for all male GLIAC runners in the
race.
Ashland - Ashland was idle this past week and
will run on Friday (Sept. 30) at the All-Ohio Championships hosted
by Cedarville. The Eagles are ranked fourth in the
region. Last week AU was ranked 22nd in the nation.
Ferris State - The Ferris State University
men’s cross country team did not compete this past
weekend. FSU moved up to sixth in this past week’s
United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association
Division II Midwest Regional Rankings. Ferris State will next take
part in the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, Oct. 1, in
Louisville.
Findlay - The men's cross country team was idle
this week and will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 30 when the
compete at the All-Ohio Championship in Cedarville, Ohio.
Grand Valley State - The Laker men’s
cross country team, ranked first in the Midwest Region, was off
this weekend. They will be participating in the Notre Dame
Invitational this Friday (Sept. 30) at 2 p.m.
Hillsdale - The Hillsdale College men’s
cross country team had the weekend off last weekend, and are
preparing to compete at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday,
Sept. 30.
Lake Erie - The Lake Erie College men’s
cross country team tuned up for next weekend’s All-Ohio
Championships by competing with Edinboro University at the
Fighting Scots’ annual Rag Relay Event in Edinboro, Pa. The
squads are broken up into relay teams for a 4 x 1,500-meter
relay. Host Edinboro took the top five on the men’s
side in this nontraditional event. LEC’s best relay team was
the one of junior Craig Gerber (Fremont, Ohio/Clyde), sophomore
Jimmy Hudd (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor/Ashland) and junior David Gobrogge
(Akron, Ohio/Green) that ran the course in 1:01:49. Gerber
was the low runner with a time of 19:29 individually. The Storm
runners head to Cedarville University next Friday, Sept. 30, for
the annual All-Ohio Championships meet which will begin at 2:45
p.m.
Lake Superior State - Sophomore Taylor
Heath (Hanover, Mich.) placed 25th overall and 19th among
individuals scoring for their teams to lead Lake Superior State
Saturday at the Roy Griak Invitational, which is the nation’s
largest cross country meet. Heath was one of 322 male competitors
in the Division II race on the Les Bolstad 8K Course. He clocked a
26:07. Sophomore Mark List (Lansing, Mich.) was 84th among team
scorers, finishing in 27:24, while freshman Rance Carpenter (Grand
Rapids, Mich.) was 141st in 28:30. The Lakers’ next meet is
the Upper Peninsula Championships on Oct. 7 in Marquette.
Michigan Tech - Jani Lane was the lone runner for
the men’s team to break the top-100. He finished the
eight-kilometer course in 26:55. Matt Dugan finished 104th (27:50)
while Eric Parsell was 111th (27:53). Dylan Anderson and Nate
Manderfield finished 114th (27:57) and 115th (27:58) to round out
the top-five for the Huskies.
Northwood - The Northwood men’s cross
country team had the week off. They will return to action
September 30 at the Lansing Community College Invitational.
Ohio Dominican - ODU’s men’s cross
country team was off this week and will return to action Sept. 30
at Cedarville for the All-Ohio Invitational.
Saginaw Valley State - The Saginaw Valley State
University men’s cross country team did not compete this
week. The Cardinals are back in action again (Sept 30) when they
compete in the Lansing Community College Invitational.
Tiffin - The Dragon’s were off this week
and return to action at Cedarville for the All-Ohio
Invitational.
Wayne State - The Warrior runners were idle last
week. They will run this Saturday at the George Mason Invitational
in Fairfax, Va.
