GVSU's Martin and Santora Chosen As GLIAC Softball "Player of the Week" and  "Pitcher of the Week", respectively

BAY CITY, Mich. -  Grand Valley State University senior infielder Katie Martin (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) and senior pitcher Hannah Santora (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) and have been chosen as the GLIAC Softball  "Player of the Week" and  "Pitcher of the Week", respectively.

GLIAC Softball Player of the Week:

Grand Valley State University senior Katie Martin hit .524 with an outstanding 1.190 slugging percentage as GVSU went 6-0 last week, outscoring its opponents 65-6. She was 11-for-21 at the plate with five doubles, three homers, nine runs scored, and 14 RBI. In game one against Lake Erie on Saturday, she was 4-for-4 with a double, two home runs, and six RBI. Martin added a three-double, three-RBI performance in the opener against Walsh on Friday. During the week, she broke the GLIAC career record for doubles (60) and tied the conference mark in career home runs (46).

GLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week:
Hannah Santora

Senior, Pitcher, R/R
Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North

Senior pitcher Hannah Santora upped her record to 11-0 this season, as she posted a 3-0 mark with a perfect 0.00 earned run average. Santora was a part of two shutouts, giving up just three unearned runs in 17.0 innings in the circle. She defeated regional opponent Wisconsin-Parkside, 4-3, allowing four hits and striking out six, before blanking Walsh in a 4-0 win. During the week, Santora fanned 14 batters and allowed just one extra base hit.
