Wayne State's Guitar, Butler Capture GLIAC Softball Player of the Week Awards

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following the sixth week of the 2017 campaignWayne State senior Lyndsay Butler earned GLIAC Softball Player of the Week honors, while Wayne State sophomore Megan Guitar captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Lyndsay Butler, Wayne State

Wayne State senior Lyndsay Butler helped lead WSU to a 7-0 week by batting .667 (16-for-24) with 10 runs scored and three RBI. She had six multiple-hit affairs including three three-hit contests. In her 27 plate appearances, Butler also had one walk and two HBP for a .704 on-base percentage. She had two doubles and two triples for a .917 slugging percentage. Butler went 4-0 in the circle with two saves in her six appearances with a 0.25 ERA (three runs, one earned) in 27.2 innings. She struck out 33 and walked one, while allowing 15 hits.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Megan Guitar, Wayne State

Wayne State sophomore Megan Guitar went 3-0 last week winning all three of her starts. She allowed just seven runs (six earned) in 17.2 innings for a 2.38 ERA. Guitar struck out 17, walked seven and limited opponents to a .200 batting average with only two extra-base hits (both doubles). She tossed a five-inning one-hit shutout in an 8-0 win over Clarion.
