PNW's Schultz and GVSU's Lipovsky are softball players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following Week 6 of the 2019 season. Purdue Northwest freshman infielder Madison Schultz was named Player of the Week, while Grand Valley State senior Allison Lipovsky was the Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Madison Schultz - Purdue Northwest

Madison Schultz (Lafayette, Ind.) was dominant at the plate this week, hitting three home runs with 11 RBI, including a game-ending grand slam in the bottom of the fifth to defeat Davenport 13-4 in five innings. She slugged .938 over the week and hit for a .313 average to lead the Pride. She had at least one hit in four of PNW's five games. Defensively, she compiled three putouts and 17 assists with no errors at shortstop.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Allison Lipovsky - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior Allison Lipovsky (Harrison, Mich.) allowed just one earned run in games against Wayne State and Ashland. During 18 innings of work, she totaled 25 strikeouts and just two walks. She tossed a complete game two-hitter against Wayne State where she allowed zero runs, struck out 10, and walked just two. Lipovsky threw an 11-inning, 15 strikeout, one run game against Ashland.
