GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its seventh weekly awards for the 2021 softball season. Grand Valley State sophomore Joanna Cirrincione was named Softball Player of the Week, while Davenport Pitcher Ellie Muilenburg was selected Softball Pitcher of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Joanna Cirrincione, Grand Valley St.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Ellie Muilenburg, Davenport
Fresh off Davenport's first seven-inning no-hitter in nearly five years and the first ever at the Panthers' Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex (opened in 2013), DU's junior hurler, Ellie Muilenburg, has been named GLIAC Pitcher of the Week. Muilenburg is the first Davenport pitcher not named Mallory Teunissen to receive the honor who last did so for the third time in a single season back on April 23, 2018. Muilenburg struck out a career high 15 Parkside Ranger batters needing all 21 outs to do so and faced just three batters over the minimum in the 3-0 Davenport victory. The seven-inning no-hitter was also the program's first in a home game regardless of the facility going all the way back to April 16, 2011.
