SANDUSKY, Ohio -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its 2022 All-GLIAC Softball Teams and postseason awards in conjunction with the conference's annual softball tournament at Sports Force Parks in Sandusky, Ohio. The awards were voted on by the conference softball coaches.
2022 GLIAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR Rachel Griffin, Davenport Davenport senior first baseman Rachel Griffin has been named the GLIAC Player of the Year for the 2022 season and is the first Panther to ever receive the honor. GLIAC wise, Griffin finished the regular season fourth in doubles (13), fourth in home runs (7), fourth in slugging percentage (.636), fifth in total bases (84), sixth in batting average (.364), eighth in RBI (33), and 10th in on-base percentage (.416). The fifth-year slugger played and started all but two games this season while leading Davenport to a .316 batting average in league games, the highest mark in program history. |

2022 GLIAC FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR Kelsey Komorous, Grand Valley State Kelsey Komorous hit .321 in GLIAC play as a freshman at first base, filling the shoes of the graduated, reigning GLIAC Player of the Year Nikoma Holmen. She ranked sixth in the conference with 20 RBI in GLIAC play, recording 20 hits with three doubles and a triple, while posting a .994 fielding percentage. She becomes the third straight Laker to earn GLIAC Freshman of the Year and eighth in program history. |
2022 GLIAC COACH OF THE YEAR Dana Callihan, Grand Valley State Grand Valley State, champions of the GLIAC regular season for a fifth straight season and 1-seed at the GLIAC Tournament, captured three major conference awards and placed 11 on the All-GLIAC teams for the 2022 season. The Lakers went 38-5 in the regular season, including a 23-3 mark in GLIAC play with 21 wins in their final 22 games played. The Lakers are in the midst of a quest for a fourth straight GLIAC Tournament title and are currently ranked second in the Midwest Region as they set their sights on a third straight trip to the Women’s College World Series. |
