GVSU's Cirrincione and Beatus selected as GLIAC weekly softball award winners

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following week 10 of the 2022 season. Grand Valley State swept the awards, with redshirt junior outfielder Joanna Cirrincione earning player of the week and redshirt junior hurler Hannah Beatus receiving pitcher of the week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK  - Joanna Cirrincione, Grand Valley State

Joanna Cirrincione (Chicago, Ill.) hit over .600 for the week with five extra-base hits and at least one hit in all eight games to push her hitting streak to 15 straight. She had multiple hits in six of the eight. Cirrincione scored 10 runs, touching the plate in seven of eight games and had four multi-RBI games to lead the Lakers to an 8-0 week to move within one game of claiming their fifth straight GLIAC regular season title.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Hannah Beatus, Grand Valley State

Hannah Beatus (North Aurora, Ill.) went 4-0 on the week and allowed just one earned run in 26 innings of work while striking out 27 and walking 12. She avenged her only GLIAC loss of the season with a win over Wayne State Saturday before a complete-game win with one unearned run allowed against SVSU, who entered play in second place in the GLIAC. The Lakers are now one game away from claiming a fifth straight GLIAC regular season title.
