GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following week 2 of the 2022 season. Grand Valley State redshirt junior infielder Lydia Goble was named Player of the Week while Lakers' redshirt junior hurler Hannah Beatus was honored as Pitcher of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Lydia Goble, Grand Valley State
Lydia Goble hit .615 (8-13) with a pair of doubles, eight RBI and five runs scored while batting in the 3-hole in all five games. She also drew five walks and posted a team-high 1.491 OPS. Goble had at least one hit and drove in at least one run in all five games, including the game-tying RBI in the weekend finale in the seventh inning to force extras in the eventual walk-off winner. She had three hits in the win over William Jewell and a pair in the Winona State game, scoring in each of the last four games.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Hannah Beatus, Grand Valley State
Hannah Beatus picked up right where she left off from her All-American 2021 campaign, hurling a complete-game no-hitter in her first appearance of 2022 in a run-rule win over McKendree in five innings. It was the third no-hitter of her career and 24th in program history. She struck out five and walked two in the win. Beatus followed that up with a seven-inning shutout against Truman State the following day, allowing just two hits and did not let a runner past first base while striking out eight.
