GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following week five of the 2022 season. Saginaw Valley State freshman Cam Coonan was honored as player of the week while Grand Valley State redshirt junior Hannah Beatus received pitcher of the week accolades.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Cam Coonan, Saginaw Valley State
Cam Coonan (Freeland, Mich.) led the SVSU offense to four wins, earning GLIAC Player of the Week honors for the first time. Coonan is the second consecutive Cardinal to win the award, joining Jackie Popko last week. Coonan batted .600 with 12 hits in 20 plate appearances in six games. She added three doubles, three RBIs, seven runs scored and one stolen base. In 16 games this season for the Cardinals, Coonan is batting .472 with 12 runs scored.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Hannah Beatus, Grand Valley State
Hannah Beatus (North Aurora, Ill.) threw a perfect game on Sunday versus Tiffin, setting down 15 consecutive batters in an 8-0 GVSU win.
