SVSU's VerVaecke and Mundy named GLIAC weekly softball award winners

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following week nine of the 2022 season. Saginaw Valley State swept the awards, with senior second baseman Meagan VerVaecke receiving player of the week and senior southpaw Julia Mundy earning pitcher of the week.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK  - Meagan VerVaecke, Saginaw Valley State

Meagan VerVaecke (Macomb, Mich.) was 9-of-16 (.563) at the plate in six games last week. The senior from Macomb, Mich., drove in 10 runs, finishing with three doubles, one triple, and one home run while adding seven runs scored and four walks. 


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Julia Mundy, Saginaw Valley State

Julia Mundy (Greencastle, Ind.) pitched three complete games, allowing just three earned runs in 17 innings pitched. She struck out 25 batters, walking only two. She complied a 1.24 ERA on the week and is 9-2 overall this season for SVSU.
