DU's Kreiger and GVSU's Beatus honored with GLIAC weekly softball awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly softball awards following week 11 of the 2023 season. Davenport senior first baseman Hayley Kreiger received player of the week honors and Grand Valley State redshirt senior hurler Hannah Beatus was recognized as pitcher of the week.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Hayley Kreiger, Davenport

Senior Hayley Kreiger (South Haven, Mich.) was named GLIAC Player of the Week after recording the first cycle in Davenport softball history last week against Purdue Northwest (April 29). The first baseman also did it in order, a rarity in sports as it has only been done 14 times in the history of Major League Baseball (MLB). Kreiger ended the week batting an astounding .682 (15-for-22) while adding two doubles, a triple, three home runs, eight runs, and nine RBIs through six games played.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Hannah Beatus, Grand Valley State

Hannah Beatus tossed a pair of complete games this past week, downing Purdue Northwest in seven innings and shutting out Parkside in five innings.Beatus racked up 20 strikeouts this past week in 12 innings of work. She allowed three total runs on eight combine hits. Beatus was also a perfect 4-for-4 from the field.
