WSU's Peru and GVSU's Ingram receive GLIAC weekly softball awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following week three of the 2023 season. Wayne State redshirt junior Taryn Peru earned player of the week accolades while Grand Valley State freshman Nevaeh Ingram received pitcher of the week honors. 


PLAYER OF THE WEEK -  Taryn Peru, Wayne State

Taryn Peru batted .500 (5-for-10) with two home runs, a triple and five RBI, while slugging 1.300 in WSU's three-game series at Ohio Dominican. After going hitless in game one of the series, Peru smacked two home runs propelling the Warriors to an 8-3 triumph in Sunday's first game. Her first round tripper extended a 1-0 to a 3-0 advantage. In Sunday's nightcap, Peru's RBI triple in the top of the first scored the game's first run. She also played errorless defense at third base.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Nevaeh Ingram, Grand Valley State

Nevaeh Ingram threw a no-hitter against Glenville State in GVSU’s run-rule victory to start their schedule at The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida, on Sunday. She tossed five no-hit innings in the Lakers’ 8-0 victory and struck out five batters. The true freshman issued two walks in five scoreless innings.
