PNW's Michko and GVSU's Beatus recognized with GLIAC weekly softball awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following week four of the 2023 season. Purdue Northwest senior designated player Selena Michko was named player of the week while Grand Valley State redshirt senior Hannah Beatus earned pitcher of the week recognition.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK  - Selena Michko, Purdue Northwest

Selena Michko started off the Florida Spring Games on a fantastic high-note going 8-of-11 with 6 RBIs, two homers, one double, two walks, and four runs. During the Saint Michaels game, she finished going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two homeruns, three RBIs, and two runs. She finishes the weekend with an incredible .727 batting average, .714 on base percentage, and 1.364 slugging percentage. She now leads the conference in homeruns and moves into top-five in batting average.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Hannah Beatus, Grand Valley State

Hannah Beatus tossed three complete games to help the Lakers finish 8-2 last week. She threw two shutout complete games and allowed one unearned run in her other start in the circle. In total, Beatus struck out 19 batters and 10 total hits across three starts. The Lakers outscored their opponents 22-1 in the three games Beatus started. She moves to 5-1 on the season and has already racked up 50 strikeouts.
