PNW's Dugan and GVSU's Eggart earn weekly softball awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following week one of the 2024 season. Purdue Northwest freshman Kylie Dugan was honored as player of the week while Grand Valley State senior Genesis Eggart received pitcher of the week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK  - Kylie Dugan, Purdue Northwest 

Freshman Kylie Dugan had a fantastic week at the plate and in the field for the Pride. She helped guide the team with an amazing .667 batting average with 6 hits, 2 walks, and one run scored. She also recorded four stolen bases over the weekend. She notched a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with five put-outs and five assists.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Genesis Eggart, Grand Valley State

Genesis Eggart earned her first pitcher of the week honors this season after going 2-0 in the circle in the opening weekend for the Lakers. Eggart tossed all seven innings in the win over Ohio Dominican allowing just one run with seven strikeouts. She struck out four in the win over Lock Haven tossing all seven innings allowing just one run off two hits. The Lakers will travel for the Lewis Dome Invitational this weekend starting on Friday morning against Minnesota Duluth at 10:00 a.m.
