SVSU's Campagna and GVSU's Eggart receive weekly softball honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly softball awards following week two of the 2024 season. Saginaw Valley State senior outfielder Maddie Campagna received player of the week accolades, while Grand Valley State senior Genesis Eggart earned pitcher of the week honors for the second consecutive week. 


PLAYER OF THE WEEK  - Maddie Campagna, Saginaw Valley State

Maddie Campagna led the Cardinals in batting average (.500), slugging percentage (1.000), hits (9), RBI (11), total bases (18), and home runs (2) for the week. She was a large contributor to the offensive effort in a week where SVSU went 4-2 to open the 2024 season. Campagna was 4-8 with two outs, recording four 2-out RBI along with finishing the weekend 6-9 with runners in scoring position.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Genesis Eggart, Grand Valley State

Genesis Eggart has been named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week. Eggart posted a 2-0 record in the circle at the Lewis Dome Tournament and tossed 12 scoreless innings allowing just five hits. Eggart pitched a complete game shutout striking out a career high 11 batters against Minnesota Duluth. She then tossed five scoreless innings in relief allowing just one hit with 10 strikeouts in the win over Bemidji State. Eggart has notched a 0.58 ERA with three complete games and 32 strikeouts to begin the season.
