Three GLIAC student-athletes are named to Google Cloud DII Academic All-District At-Large Team

GLIAC - Wayne State swimmer Ryan Katulski, Northwood tennis player Tetyana Pavych and Grand Valley State lacrosse player Carly Shisler were named to the Google Cloud Division II Academic All-District Team in District 4.

The at-large teams consist of those student-athletes competing in:  Men's Fencing, Men's Golf, Men's Gymnastics, Men's Ice Hockey, Men's Lacrosse, Men's Rifle, Men's Skiing, Men's Swimming and Diving, Men's Tennis, Men's Volleyball, Men's Water Polo, and Men's Wrestling. Each school is allowed to nominate up to four individuals per gender for the all-district ballot.

Katulski (Novi, Mich.), a junior with a 3.85 grade point average in accounting, was a five-time All-American (four First Team and one Honorable Mention) at the 2019 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving national championships. He anchored the national runner-up relays in both the 200 medley and 400 medley.  He led off the second place 200 free relay and the third place 400 free relay. During his first three seasons as a Warrior, Katulski has earned 10 All-American certificates (six First Team and four Honorable Mention) along with being an 11-time All-GLIAC swimmer (top three in an event). He has won six GLIAC titles (two each in the 50 free and 200 medley relay; and once each in the 400 free relay and 400 medley relay).

Pavych (Lviv, Ukraine), a senior and the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis player of the year, finished with a 3.83 GPA in management information systems. She led Northwood from the top of the lineup in both singles and doubles during the regular season. She went 7-2 at No.  1 singles and a perfect 9-0 at No. 1 doubles with partner Arnez-Mercado. Over her career for the Timberwolves, Pavych has gone 64-11 overall in singles (37-4 in the GLIAC) and 48-12 in doubles (29-2 the GLIAC).

Shisler (Naperville, Ill.), a senior with a 3.94 GPA in marketing and the GLIAC midfielder of the year, started all 18 games for the Lakers and scored a team-best 66 goals while dishing 22 assists for 88 points on the season. She set the new GVSU single-season record with 93 draw controls while also causing 24 turnovers and collecting 43 ground balls. She earned both a GLIAC offensive and defensive player of the week honor throughout the 2019 campaign.

The academic all-America team will be announced in June.
