GVSU's Nabih & Shiff Sweep GLIAC Swimming Athlete of the Week Awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the seventh weekly awards of the swimming and diving season. Grand Valley St. senior Ahmed Nabih earned GLIAC Men's Athlete of the Week accolades, while teammate Neta Shiff captured GLIAC Women's Athlete of the Week honors.


MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ahmed Nabih - Grand Valley St.

Senior Ahmed Nabih has been named GLIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week after leading the 10th-ranked Lakers to a 187.5-112.5 victory at Division 1 foe Ball State. Ahmed won the 100 (57.58) and 200 breaststroke (2:07.06), swam the breaststroke leg on the first-place finishing 200 medley relay (1:34.45) and finished second in the 400 IM (4:17.89).  Nabih currently ranks 21st nationally in the 100 breast (57.58),  22nd in the 200 breast (2:07.30) and 18th in the 200 IM (1:54.48).

 


FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Neta Shiff  - Grand Valley St.

Freshman Neta Shiff has been named the GLIAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week after turning in an outstanding day at Division I foe Ball State. Shiff touched the wall first in the 1000 freestyle (10:28.89), 500 free (5:10.41) and 400 IM (4:38.27). Shiff currently ranks fourth nationally in the 1000 free (10:20.45) and 17th in the 500 free (5:06.38).
