GLIAC honors men's and women's swimmers and divers of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards for the 2022-23 swimming & diving season. Grand Valley State claimed both swimming honors with Matt Bosch and Lucy Hedley earning recognition while Tobie Stiles and Abbie Harned of Northern Michigan swept the diving awards.


MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Matt Bosch, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State sophomore Matt Bosch was named the GLIAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for his performance in a tre-meet versus #2 Indianapolis and #19 Findlay. Bosch won the 100 free (44.69) and 200 free (1:38.34), was a part of the 200 free relay team that touched second (1:21.87) and finished fifth in the 50 free. GVSU is ranked #7 in the latest CSCCA poll and will next be in action at home versus league foe Wayne State on Jan. 28.  


WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Lucy Hedley, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State freshman Lucy Hedley has been named the GLIAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for the sixth time during the 2022-23 campaign. Hedley was a key figure in the Lakers’ going 3-0 in a quad meet versus #2 Indianapolis, #19 Findlay and Division I foe Eastern Michigan. Hedley won the 200 free (1:51.44) and 500 free (4:59.73), swam a leg on the 200 free relay that finished first (1:36.11) and touched second in the 200 free (1:21.87). GVSU is ranked #7 in the latest CSCCA poll and will next be in action at home versus league foe Wayne State on Jan. 28.  

MEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Tobie Stiles, Northern Michigan

Tobie Stiles took first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives this past weekend for the Northern Michigan swim and dive team. He scored 266.40 in the 1-meter and 268.65 for two impressive victories. This marks the third GLIAC Diver of the Week award this season for the freshman from Lindstrom, Minnesota. 


WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Abbie Harned, Northern Michigan

Abbie Harned, a sophomore from Auburn, Michigan, came through for the Wildcats swim and dive team this weekend with first-place finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. In the 1-meter, Harned scored 235.65 to stand atop the podium and in the 3-meter she totaled 231.52 points, beating out second-place by over 20 points.
