GLIAC announces swimmers and divers of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards for the 2022-23 swimming & diving season. Davenport junior Richard Polasek and junior Rebecca Wallis earned GLIAC Swimmer of the Week honors. St. Cloud State sophomore Dylan Apicello and Davenport senior Lexis Mirandette received GLIAC Diver of the Week accolades. 


MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Richard Polasek, Davenport

Richard Polasek, the Male Swimmer of the Week, broke the school record and recorded an NCAA "B" cut in the 100 breast while placing first with a time of 54.90. Polasek also won the 200 breast (2:04.67), 200 IM (1:59.12) and was the second leg in the 200 medley relay that took home second place (25.72 split).

WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Rebecca Wallis, Davenport

Rebecca Wallis takes home Female Swimmer of the Week honors after competing in four events on Saturday and winning three of them. Not only did Wallis win the 200 freestyle (1:55.85) and 500 freestyle (5:14.49), but she was the second leg in the winning 200 freestyle relay (25.44 split) and placed third in the 100 freestyle (54.29).

MEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Dylan Apicello, St. Cloud State

St. Cloud State's won the 3-meter dive (233.33) and finished third in the 1-meter dive (198.38) against Omaha (D-I) on Friday. He followed it up by winning the 3-meter dive (243.95) 1-meter dive (235.65) against Augustana on Saturday.


WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Lexis Mirandette, Davenport

Lexis Mirandette, this week's Female Diver of the Week, dove in two events on Saturday at Bethel and won both of them. Mirandette took first place in the one meter dive with a score of 225.00 and the three meter dive with a mark of 242.40.
