GLIAC recognizes men's and women's swimmers and divers of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following week five of the 2022-23 swimming & diving season. Grand Valley State sophomore Matt Bosch and freshman Lucy Hedley claimed the swimming awards while Saginaw Valley State freshman Rory Kauffman and senior Adelaide Spencer claimed the diving honors. 


MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Matt Bosch, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State sophomore Matt Bosch recorded first-place finishes in the 100 (44.91) and 200 free (1:38.06), swam the anchor leg of the first-place finishing 400 medley relay (3:18.71) and the lead leg of the 400 free relay that hit the NCAA provisional relay mark at Indianapolis. In addition, Bosch hit NCAA B cuts in the 100 and 200 free.


WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Lucy Hedley, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State freshman Lucy Hedley tallied a pair of first-place finishes, one second, hit three NCAA provisional cuts and set two freshman records in the Lakers’ dual at #4 Indianapolis. Hedley won the 200 (1:49.86) and 500 free (4:57.28), while finishing second in the 100 (51.44). Her times in the 100 and 200 free set GVSU freshman records. In addition, she swan the anchor leg of the second-place finishing 400 free relay.


MEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Rory Kauffman, Saginaw Valley State

Rory Kauffman won the 3-meter diving event with 318.30 points and was second place in 1-meter diving against Findlay. He added first-place showing in the 3-meter with a 246.50 against Aquinas.  


WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Adelaide Spencer, Saginaw Valley State

Adelaide Spencer was named the women’s Diver of the Week for the second time, after sweeping first place in two meets last weekend. At home against Aquinas, Spencer took the 1- and 3-meter events with 231.15 and 250.10, respectively. Against Findlay on the road, Spencer again took first both times with scores of 255.50 and 294.08.
