GLIAC announces indoor track & field athletes of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its third weekly awards of the 2023-24 indoor track & field season. Grand Valley State senior Caleb Futter and Saginaw Valley State senior Cheyenne Williamson earned track athlete of the week honors while Davenport grad student Noah Evers and Grand Valley State senior Alaina Omonode received field athlete of the week recognition.


MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Caleb Futter, Grand Valley State

Caleb Futter earns his first GLIAC Track Athlete of the week honors this season after leading the Lakers to a 1 - 3 finish in the men's 800m. Futter recorded a first-place finish in addition to a new personal-best time of 1:50.75, surpassing the Division II provisional mark. Currently, Futter sits in the No.2 spot of the USTFCCCA Division II list in the men's 800m.


WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Cheyenne Williamson, Saginaw Valley State

Cheyenne Williamson led the Saginaw Valley State women’s track and field team at the annual Doug Hansen Open last Friday. She improved upon her 60m hurdle school record at the meet with a time of 8.29 seconds. That mark is almost a full tenth of a second (.09) better than her previous record.


MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Noah Evers, Davenport

Noah Evers won the shot put (60' 3") at the GVSU Mike Lints Open over the weekend. He currently has the second-best mark in Division II this season and set his own personal best indoors during the meet.


WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Alaina Omonode, Grand Valley State

Alaina Omonode receives her first GLIAC Field Athlete of the week honors this season after placing first in the women's weight throw invitational for the second weekend in a row. Omonode continues to be dominate in the throwers circle for Grand Valley State, throwing a distance of 18.62m last weekend. Omonode finds herself within the Top 10 of the USTFCCCA Division II list in the weight throw, sitting at No. 9.
