Michigan Tech Jumps Up, GVSU Falls Slightly in Latest Women's Basketball Region Rankings

NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS -- Five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women's basketball teams appeared in the third NCAA Division II Midwest Region Rankings of 2017 released on Wednesday (March 1).

The Ashland Eagles remain the lone unbeaten team in the country at 28-0 after a 91-63 win over Walsh in the league quarterfinals Tuesday night. Saginaw Valley remains at No. 3 once again following a convincing 62-45 win over Northern Michigan, while Michigan Tech improved one spot to No. 5 in the region following a win over Ohio Dominican. Grand Valley State (No. 8) fell one position from a week ago with Ohio Dominican staying put in the No. 10 hole.

The Midwest Region includes schools from the GLIAC, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). The GLVC holds four regional ranking positions with the G-MAC's Ursuline holding court at No. 4.

The 2016 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament Selection Show will take place this Sunday, March 5th at 10 PM on NCAA.com. The Top 8 in each region will qualify for the postseason championships.
