ASHLAND, Ohio -- For the second time in her career, Ashland University junior forward Andi Daugherty has been named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) NCAA Division II women's basketball national Player of the Week, as announced on Tuesday (Jan. 3) night.

Daugherty posted 28 points, the second-most of her Eagle career, and a season-high-tying nine rebounds, in No. 1 Ashland's 88-83 win at No. 4 Bellarmine on Friday (Dec. 30) afternoon. She scored nine points as Ashland jumped out to a 17-2 lead, then posted eight points as the Knights attempted a fourth-quarter comeback.

Daugherty was 12-for-17 from the floor (12 field goals a new career high), 1-of-2 from 3-point range and added two assists and two steals. She had the 17th 20-plus-point game of her career, and has 1,156 career points, 15th-most in Ashland history.

For her efforts against the Knights, Daugherty also was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week for the ninth time in her Eagle career on Monday (Jan. 2).

Daugherty also was named USBWA national Player of the Week on Jan. 26, 2016.

In 14 games in 2016-17, Daugherty is averaging 15.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting 56.1 percent from the floor and 36.0 percent from 3-point range. She is fifth in the GLIAC in field-goal percentage, and eighth in scoring.

Ashland (14-0, 6-0) will return to GLIAC play on Thursday (Jan. 5) at 5:30 p.m. at home against North Division tri-leader Michigan Tech (8-2, 4-1). It will be Church Night at Kates Gymnasium.
