Ashland's Snyder, GVSU's Cairnduff Tabbed GLIAC Players of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the third weekend of the 2016 women's basketball season. Grand Valley State senior forward Bailey Cairnduff earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division honors, while Ashland junior forward Laina Snyder captured South Division accolades for the second straight week.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Bailey Cairnduff, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior forward Bailey Cairnduff averaged 16 points per game on 50 percent shooting as the Lakers won both weekend games at the Puerto Rico Clasico. She scored 13 points in the Laker's 52-45 win over the defending national champions Lubbock Christian (TX), before pouring in 19 points and adding seven rebounds in Saturday's 53-47 victory over the University of Indianapolis.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Laina Snyder, Ashland

Ashland junior forward Laina Snyder averaged 17.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game, all while shooting 61.5 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the free-throw line for the No. 3-ranked Ashland Eagles. Snyder's two double-doubles at Gannon and at home against Slippery Rock give her 30 for her career.
