Michigan Tech's Anderson, Lake Erie's Gabor Collect GLIAC Hoops Weekly Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the sixth weekend of the 2016 women's basketball season. Michigan Tech senior guard Morgan Anderson earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division honors for the second time this year, while Lake Erie junior guard Kayla Gabor captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Morgan Anderson, Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech senior guard Morgan Anderson had two more big games for Michigan Tech, helping lead the Huskies to a pair of GLIAC wins on Thursday and Saturday. Anderson combined for 38 points and averaged 19 points per game. She made good on 48.3% of her field goals and went 10 for 12 at the charity stripe. She also grabbed seven rebounds and added a steal this past week. On the season, Anderson leads the Huskies in scoring at 18.2 points per game, is second on the team in rebounding (4.8 rpg), and also leads the team in assists (3.1 apg). Anderson is currently second in the GLIAC in scoring behind only Kayla Gabor of Lake Erie.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kayla Gabor, Lake Erie

Lake Erie junior guard Kayla Gabor averaged 25.0 points, 7.0 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game as she led the Storm to a 2-0 road record last week. The GLIAC league leader in scoring, Gabor shot 51.4 percent from the floor during the week, including 8-of-12 from three-point range. She started the week with a career-high 30 points in a 81-62 win over Lake Superior State to go with eight assists and four steal. Gabor then capped her week with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists in a 80-78 win over Northwood.
