Ashland's Johnson, Ferris State's McInerney Named GLIAC Hoops Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly women's basketball awards following Week 10 of the 2017-18 campaign. Ferris State junior forward Rachel McInerney earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division honors for the second time this year, while Ashland sophomore guard Jodi Johnson captured South Division accolades for the fifth time this season.

NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Rachel McInerney, Ferris State

Ferris State University senior center Rachel McInerney had another big afternoon as she led the Bulldogs to a decisive 75-59 GLIAC home win over visiting Lake Superior State on Sunday (Jan. 28) afternoon in FSU's Jim Wink Arena. McInerney paced FSU with a game-high 18 points to go with seven rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals as the Bulldogs won their 11th game of the year, including three of the last four overall. She shot 75% (6-8) from the floor and 85.7% (6-7) from the line in the triumph. The senior standout scored 11 of her points and was perfect from the floor (4-4) and the line (3-3) in the third quarter alone as FSU expanded a four-point halftime edge into a 30-point lead in the stanza.

SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Jodi Johnson, Ashland

Ashland University sophomore guard Jodi Johnson had a perfect week - literally. In the No. 1-ranked Eagles' 111-46 home win over Tiffin, Johnson did not missed a shot - 6-for-6 from the field, 3-for-3 from 3-point range and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line - and ended with 17 points, three rebounds, five assists, eight steals and two blocked shots.
