GVSU's Parmley, Ashland's Snyder Selected GLIAC Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the fourth weekend of the 2017 women's basketball season and first week of league action. Grand Valley State junior forward Taylor Parmley earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division honors, while Ashland University senior forward Laina Snyder captured South Division accolades.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Taylor Parmley, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State junior forward Taylor Parmley recorded a 31-point, 11-rebound double-double in an overtime victory over Wayne State on 14-for-20 shooting. She then went out and scored 16 points on 5-9 shooting in a 75-41 victory over Davenport, while also pulling down six rebounds. For the week, Parmley averaged 23.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest while shooting 65.5 percent from the floor as the Lakers went 2-0 to open league play.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Laina Snyder, Ashland

Ashland University senior forward Laina Snyder had a highly-productive first weekend of 2017-18 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. In road wins against Lake Superior State and Ferris State for the No. 1-ranked Eagles, Snyder averaged 22.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game, while shooting 63.6 percent from the floor and hitting all three free throws.
