MTU's Hobson and AU's Johnson earn women's basketball weekly honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced women's basketball player of the week honors for Week Six of the 2018-19 season. Michigan Tech guard Hannah Hobson was named GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division Player of the Week, while Ashland guard/forward Jodi Johnson captured South Division honors.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hannah Hobson - Michigan Tech

Junior guard Hannah Hobson came off the bench to total a career-high 19 points and 10 rebounds to record her first double double and lead Michigan Tech to a 66-57 victory at Minnesota-Duluth on Wednesday. She was 7-of-12 from the field with three three-pointers. She also dished out two assists and blocked one shot. She is averaging 8.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jodi Johnson - Ashland

Junior guard/forward Jodi Johnson averaged 21.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 5.0 steals per game to lead Ashland to non-conference victories over Notre Dame (Ohio) and Indianapolis. She hit 67.9 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three-point range. Against the Falcons, Johnson came close to the program's second all-time triple double, ending with 18 points, 11 rebounds and eight steals.
