FSU's Anderson and Ashland's Johnson are Week 15 top players

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced women's basketball player of the week honors for Week 15 of the 2018-19 season. Ferris State sophomore guard Adrienne Anderson was named GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division Player of the Week, while Ashland junior guard/forward Jodi Johnson captured South Division honors for the fifth time.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Adrienne Anderson - Ferris State

Ferris State sophomore guard Adrienne Anderson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) led the Bulldogs to a conference road sweep as FSU held onto fifth place overall in the league standings with two victories. Anderson paced the Bulldogs with 30 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds, seven steals and two blocked shots in the two games combined while averaging 15.5 points, 5.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.0 blocks a game. She notched 12 points with four rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks in Thursday's decisive 79-64 win at Purdue Northwest. On Saturday, she came back to total 18 points, six assists, four boards and four steals in a thrilling 79-77 win at Parkside when she scored the game-winner with only two-tenths of a second left to play. Anderson played 37 minutes in the win over the Rangers and went 8-of-9 at the line in the win. For the week, she converted 12-of-13 (92.3 percent) of her free throws and provided a strong presence on the defensive end.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jodi Johnson - Ashland

Ashland junior guard/forward Jodi Johnson (Wadsworth, Ohio) had another stat-sheet-stuffing week for the No. 10-ranked Eagles in wins at Northwood and Saginaw Valley State. She averaged 21.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game, and made 63.6 percent from the field and 92.9 percent from the free-throw line. Johnson posted 19 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals in an 84-65 win at Northwood on Feb. 21, then went for 23 points, 13 boards, four helpers and a steal in a 99-84 victory at Saginaw Valley State on Feb. 23. She leads the GLIAC in field-goal percentage (60.5) and ranks second in scoring, averaging 18.5 points per game.
