INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Midwest Region Tournament will feature a rematch of Sunday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship game.
No. 5 seed Northern Michigan (22-9) will get another crack at No. 4 seed Ashland (29-2), which handed the Wildcats a 65-58 loss earlier this afternoon to win its sixth conference tournament title. No. 3 seed Grand Valley State (27-3) will get a chance at redemption after getting bounced by NMU in the GLIAC Tournament semifinals, 47-38. The Lakers will play No. 6 Truman (23-7) in the NCAA first round.
Other Midwest Region pairings include No. 1 Drury (31-0) vs. No. 8 Kentucky Wesleyan (24-7), and No. 2 Lewis (26-4) vs. No. 7 Walsh (25-6).
