FSU's Blair, GVSU's Hedemark Named Women's Basketball  Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the GLIAC regular-season finale. Ferris State senior forward Riley Blair earned GLIAC Women's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Grand Valley St. senior guard Victoria Hedemark captured South Division Player of the Week. 


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Riley Blair - Ferris State

For the sixth time this season, Ferris State University senior forward Riley Blair (Dearborn) has been honored as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week. Blair scored 24 points with five rebounds, four assists and three steals in Ferris State’s 71-65 regular season finale vs. Lake Superior State. The senior has helped the Bulldogs to their first GLIAC North Division Crown and 20+ win season since 2011-12 as their third divisional title in school history. With Blair’s season averages of 20.9 points per game, 5.6 points per game, and 1.5 steals per game, Blair has become one of the GLIAC’s premier players and has Ferris State hosting a GLIAC Quarterfinal contest for the first time since 2011-12.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Victoria Hedemark  - Grand Valley St.

Senior guard Victoria Hedemark has earned her first career GLIAC South Player of the Week award for her performance on Senior Night vs. Davenport last Thursday. The Dansville, Mich. native scored a season-high 20 points (6-8 FG, 6-6 FT), while dishing out three assists and grabbing two rebounds to help lead the Lakers to a 26-2 record in the regular season. Hedemark currently ranks fourth in the GLIAC in steals per game (2.1) and 12th in field goal percentage (50.3%). The No. 4 ranked Lakers will begin the GLIAC Tournament on Tuesday night at 6:00 PM vs. Michigan Tech in a quarterfinal matchup.
