Tech's Dax and NU's Taylor named GLIAC Women's Basketball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 13 of the women's basketball season. Michigan Tech sophomore forward Sara Dax was named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week, while Northwood senior guard Ellie Taylor received GLIAC South Division Player of the Week honors. 


NORTH DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sara Dax, Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech sophomore forward Sara Dax (Kewaunee, Wis.) was named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Dax totaled 48 points over three conference road games last week, including a season-high 23 points to lead the Huskies over Ferris State on Thursday night. Dax also recorded 16 rebounds, four assists, one block, and one steal and shot an efficient 71.4 percent (20-28) from the field. Tuesday night, Dax scored 18 points and went 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Thursday, she posted 23 points with a pair of three and 10-for-14 shooting. Saturday, the Huskies defeated Lake Superior State and Dax scored seven points. Dax ranks third on the team in points (10.9 ppg) and first in rebounds (5.6 rpg).


SOUTH DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ellie Taylor, Northwood

Ellie Taylor (Midland, Mich.) led Northwood to three wins last week, averaging 20.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She had strong week shooting as well, making 50.0 percent from the floor (18-36), 46.2 percent from 3-point range (6-13) and 100 percent at the foul line (18-18). Taylor had at least 18 points and two 3-point field goals in all three games. She had 19 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals in Northwood's win at Davenport. Taylor then scored 23 points while adding five rebounds, three assists and three steals in the Timberwolves' win over Purdue Northwest. She finished her week with 18 points, four rebounds and five assists in NU's win over Parkside.
