GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following Week 4 of the women's basketball season. Ferris State redshirt senior guard Adrienne Anderson was named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week, while Saginaw Valley State junior guard Kaitlyn Zarycki repeats as GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.
NORTH DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Adrienne Anderson - Ferris State
Ferris State University senior guard Adrienne Anderson (Romulus, Mich.) led the Bulldogs to back-to-back wins to open GLIAC action, stretching FSU's winning streak to eight consecutive games this campaign. Anderson totaled 17.5 points along with 6.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game in wins over Purdue Northwest and Parkside at Big Rapids High School. The senior standout produced 18 points, six assists and three steals in Thursday's 67-57 win over the Pride before coming back with 17 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals in Saturday's 87-72 victory against the Rangers. For the weekend, she shot 47.6% from the floor and 14-of-18 (77.8%) at the line while notching 35 total points, 12 assists, seven rebounds and five steals as FSU moved to 8-1 overall.
SOUTH DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kaitlyn Zarycki - Saginaw Valley State
Saginaw Valley State junior guard Kaitlyn Zarycki (Niles, Mich.) repeats as south division player of the week after helping the Cardinals open the 2021-22 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season with a pair of big road wins last weekend. In a 51-45 win over No. 13 Grand Valley State University on Thursday, Zarycki scored a game-high 25 points on 7-of-16 shooting, adding six rebounds. She followed up with an 18-point performance in a 68-39 win at Davenport University on Saturday. She is averaging 22 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.6 steals per game this season.
