Michigan Tech's Mackay and SVSU's Zarycki recognized with GLIAC Women's Basketball Players of the Week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 9 of the women's basketball season. Michigan Tech junior guard Ellie Mackay has been named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week, while Saginaw Valley State junior guard Kaitlyn Zarycki is the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.


NORTH DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ellie Mackay - Michigan Tech

Junior guard Ellie Mackay (Novi, Mich.) averaged 23.0 points and 8.0 rebounds last week as Michigan Tech went 1-1. In a close loss to No. 12 Grand Valley State, she posted 25 points and six rebounds. In the Huskies 86-75 home win over Davenport, Mackay registered a double-double, pairing 21 points with 10 rebounds in addiition to four assists. Mackay ranks third in the GLIAC in scoring (18.2 ppg). 


 SOUTH DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kaitlyn Zarycki - Saginaw Valley State

In Thursday's victory over Purdue Northwest, junior guard Kaitlyn Zarycki (Niles, Mich.) led SVSU with 18 points. She was 8-13 from the field and also posted five assists. At Parkside on Saturday, she scored a game-high 27 points on 11-of-19 shooting, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. Zarycki is 30 points away from 1,000 for her career with 970 after Saturday. She currently leads the GLIAC in scoring at 21.6 points per game.
