Grand Valley State's Chipman Claims GLIAC Golfers of the Week Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the final week of fall tournaments. Grand Valley State junior Katie Chipman claimed top honors in women's action as the reigning GLIAC champion finished off an impress fall season.

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Katie Chipman - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State junior Katie Chipman earned a tie for 2nd place overall at the Trevecca Music City Invitational after firing rounds of 76 and 70 to finish with a 2-over 146. Her 70 on day two was tied for the lowest round in the entire tournament and propelled her up 11 spots after she was sitting in a tie for 13th after round one. She also tallied the third most birdies of any golfer as she knocked down seven to go along with 21 pars.

Chipman’s strong showing helped the Laker squad earn a second-place finish in the 20-team tournament after carding rounds of 297 and 302 to finish with a 23-over 599. Last week, Chipman took home individual honors at the NCAA Division II National Preview with a four-shot victory individually after shooting identical rounds of 72 both days to finish with an even-par 144 to lead the 61-player field in Pal Beach Gardens, Florida.
