PNW's Bishop and GVSU's Zubkus named golfer of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly men's and women's golf awards. Purdue Northwest senior Alex Bishop claimed top honors for the men, while sophomore Kay Zubkus was the women's golfer of the week.


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Alex Bishop - Purdue Northwest

Alex Bishop (Litchfield, Ill) shot an even-par 71 in Sunday's final round and carded a 72 on the first 18 holes to end up with a final score of 143 (+1). He tallied six birdies overall and finished the 36-hole event four strokes off the lead. Bishop is already tied for the PNW men's golf single-season record for the most rounds of par or less (4).

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Kay Zubkus - Grand Valley State

Kay Zubkus (Ada, Mich) won her second invite of the fall season on Sunday, Oct. 17 at the Davenport Panther Invitational carding five-over par (149). Zubkus notched three birdies in the final round to go from third to first, leading the Lakers' team to a first-place victory.
