WSU's Niles and NMU's Pietila earn golfer of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its first weekly men's and women's golf awards of the spring season. Wayne State redshirt senior Sean Niles was named men's player of the week, while Northern Michigan sophomore Annie Pietila was honored as women's golfer of the week.


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Sean Niles, Wayne State

Sean Niles (Northville, Mich.) made it back-to-back tournaments where a Warrior took home medalist honors at the SVSU Spring Invitational in Kentucky this past weekend. He carded a career-low round of 68 to win the event with a 142 (74, 68) en route to his first collegiate victory.

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Annie Pietila, Northern Michigan 

This past weekend at the SVSU Invitational, sophomore Annie Pietila (Hancock, Mich.) placed fourth, shooting a 153, which was the sixth-best 36-hole score in program history. She currently holds the school record for the best round of 36-holes (142).
