GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its second weekly men's and women's golf awards of the spring season. Parkside sophomore Garrett Olson earned men's player of the week, while Grand Valley State freshman Julie Sanchez was selected as women's golfer of the week.
MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Garrett Olson, Parkside
Sophomore Garrett Olson (Peoria, Ariz.) led the Parkside men's golf to its second win of the 2021-22 season. Olson shot a 75 in round one and followed that with a 77 in round two to finish in a tie for third place individually at The Klash in Kentucky. As a team, the Rangers won by one stroke over Kentucky Wesleyan as three members of the squad finished top-10.
WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Julia Sanchez, Grand Valley State
Julia Sanchez (Badajoz, Spain) placed tied for ninth at the Findlay Spring Invite in Lexington, Ky. on March 22. Sanchez led the Lakers in the third round carding a low round 72 (E). She notched eight birdies throughout the three rounds to end the event at nine-over par 225.
