GVSU Wins Sixth Straight GLIAC Lacrosse Title; Tournament Field Announced

2018 GLIAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament Central

GLIAC -- The field for the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament is set with semifinal action beginning Friday (May 4) on the campus of Grand Valley State University. Two semifinal matches will be contested on Friday with the tournament title contest scheduled for Sunday (May 6). Grand Valley State will face McKendree at 4 PM Eastern in the first semifinal before Indianapolis battles Tiffin in the night cap at 7 PM.

GVSU earned the No. 1 seed with a dominant 19-1 victory over Davenport on Friday (April 27) night. Grand Valley State earned its sixth conference title capturing at least a share of the conference crown in all six years of GLIAC Lacrosse since its inception back in 2013. McKendree landed the No. 4 seed and will face the Lakers in the semifinals. GVSU defeated McKendree in both head-to-head meetings this season by scores of 19-13 and 21-10. The Bearcats shared the GLIAC title with GVSU in 2017 and also defeated the Lakers to win the 2017 GLIAC Tournament crown one year ago.

Indianapolis finished as the No. 2 seed with a 9-2 record dropping contests this season to GVSU & Tiffin, their semifinal round opponent and No. 3 seed. UIndy & Tiffin split this season with the Dragons picking up a 15-9 victory on March 31 before the Greyhounds snagged a 15-13 win on April 15.
