UIndy's Hardoy, GVSU's DeMilia Garner GLIAC Lacrosse Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its seventh GLIAC Lacrosse Player of the Week awards of the 2018 season. This week Indianapolis freshman attacker Lauryn Hardoy earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Grand Valley State senior goalkeeper Brianna DeMilia earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Lauryn Hardoy, Indianapolis

UIndy freshman Lauryn Hardoy, just as she has all season, played an integral role this past weekend in the Hounds’ pair of conference victories, which also served as wins over ranked opponents. The Greyhounds’ strong defensive presence in the second half propelled them to an 18-16 triumph over No. 13 Grand Valley State, while a second-half run ensured another comeback victory over No. 25 Tiffin.

The Granite Bay, Calif. native scored 10 goals in the two games, matching a season-high six scores against the Lakers on Friday night. The rookie scored four against the Dragons, with her third providing the momentum that would spark the come-from-behind win. Hardoy now has a team-best 40 goals this season, which ranks fourth in the GLIAC. Her 61 total points is second in the conference and 21 assists is sixth. The Greyhounds hit the road for the final three games of the regular season, and will travel up to Grand Rapids, Mich. for a conference tilt with Davenport on Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Brianna DeMilia, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior goalkeeper Brianna DeMilia earns her third GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor for the No. 13 Lakers this season. DeMilia made 32 saves and collected nine ground balls over the three matches, including a pair against nationally ranked teams. For the second time this season, DeMilia broke the single-game record for saves in Laker history. She stopped 19 shots on Monday in a tightly contested match at No. 2 Lindenwood, breaking her previous record of 17 set earlier this year. She followed that up with three saves and three ground balls against No. 15 Indianapolis before a 10 save performance in a win over McKendree on Sunday. DeMilia, who also has a National Player of the Week honor this season, ranks third in the GLIAC in saves (123) and is second in the league in save percentage (47.7) this season.
