GVSU's DeMilia, McKendree's Salthouse Selected GLIAC Lacrosse Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its ninth GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards of the 2018 season. This week McKendree senior attacker Paige Salthouse earned GLIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week award, while Grand Valley State senior goalkeeper Brianna DeMilia gained GLIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week accolades.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Paige Salthouse, McKendree

McKendree senior attacker Paige Salthouse helped guide the Bearcats to a 2-0 record over the weekend amassing 14 goals, two assists, two ground balls and one caused turnover. Salthouse started the week with seven goals and two assists and a caused turnover in a 22-10 road victory at Concordia-St. Paul before recording seven goals and two ground balls in a 26-7 victory at Northern Michigan

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Brianna DeMilia, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior goalkeeper Brianna DeMilia held Davenport to just one goal Friday night en route to her fourth GLIAC Player of the Week honor this season. DeMilia and the Laker defense allowed the sixth-fewest goals in program history on Friday, a 19-1 win over the Panthers, to help GVSU clinch an outright GLIAC Regular Season Championship, the sixth straight year the Lakers have won the league, and the one-seed with homefield advantage in the GLIAC Tournament this coming weekend. DeMilia, who made a save and scooped a pair of ground balls, has been the mainstay between the pipes for the Lakers this season.

Her and GVSU seem to have hit their stride at the perfect time, ending the regular season on a four-game winning streak, including three straight first half running clocks leading into the post-season. DeMilia, who already has two IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week honors this season, leads the conference with a 49.5 save percentage and her 135 saves rank third.
